SEPTEMBER STITCH FIX HAUL

Have you ever wished that someone would style outfits for you? Maybe pick out items that are right up your alley without leaving the house? Well thanks to Stitch Fix you can do that!

If you’ve never heard of Stitch Fix, it’s a super simple process. First you fill out a fashion profile so the stylists can get to know what style you like to wear- or would like to wear more of. Then you can link your Pinterest style board (because come on guys, you know you have one) so they get even more of an idea of items you like. You pay $20 for them to send five items of clothing in the mail for you to try on and send back what you don’t like- it’s as simple as that! Also, if you decide to keep something in the box, the $20 fee to ship the box gets deducted from the item’s price. So technically the box would get shipped for free and you get $20 off the item! And if you decide to buy everything in the box you also get 25% off the total of all five items! Pretty cool, right? Your welcome.

Here’s the line up of items I got this month- quite autumnal, which is my favorite time of year!

PicMonkey Collage1A lot of patterns, am I right? I’m quite picky with patterns, but most of these were tasteful- just not quite my style. Here’s the rundown of what I thought of each piece:

Tinley Brush Stroke Infinity Scarf: Nice colors, and reminded me a lot of falling leaves. I’m usually not a huge fan of infinity scarves. They never seem to be quite as big and cozy as I like my scarves to be. I also wasn’t sure what to pair it with in my current wardrobe, so I sent it packing.

Conor Lace Detail Flutter Sleeve Blouse: This is my favorite piece in the set this month. I love the lace detail and I think the sleeves are very flattering. I already have a shirt quite similar to this one, but I think if I keep this one I’ll get rid of the other. It’s a better navy for my wardrobe and the lace detail makes the top much more interesting.

Tyson Scarf Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse: I wasn’t sure about the print of this top, but I absolutely loved the color. And when I read the shirt print is literally called “scarf print” my heart skipped a beat. Scarves and me…we have a great relationship. Unfortunately, my chest is a bit too big for this top. The buttons were semi-straining and you could see the tank top I had on underneath. It also is a bit too busy for my simple wardrobe, so I’m going to say goodbye.

Helina Hi-Lo Dress: I like the top detail of this dress- very geometric and interesting. Just not a huge fan of the jersey fabric and color. Probably going to say no to this one.

Melisa Geo Print Pencil Skirt: If this skirt were a shirt in this print I would probably keep it. Unfortunately, the skirt didn’t really do much for me. Seemed to be an awkward length and a jersey/stretch fabric that didn’t really hold its shape.

PicMonkey CollageA bit disappointed in this fix, to be honest. But every month is different and I still can’t wait to see what next month has in store!

AUGUST STITCH FIX HAUL

Have you ever wished that someone would style outfits for you? Maybe pick out items that are right up your alley without leaving the house? Well thanks to Stitch Fix you can do that!

Here’s the line up of items I got this month (and get ready guys, because this might be one of my favorite fixes yet!):

PicMonkey Collage(I am absolutely in love with the color combos in this fix- just sayin’)

Vinnie Open Crochet Detail Cardigan: Was a bit worried it would be granny-ish, but I love the lace-like detail on the back and the cream color. It should go with just about anything in my closet! I like it, but I don’t love it.

Jace Dot Print Fit & Flare Dress: I love this dress! Super stretchy and comfortable, and a lovely subtle print in a great color for me. Also it isn’t super short, which seems to be a theme with my long legs and regular dresses. If I throw on a cardigan, I would totally wear this to work or even a night out!

Henry Birds on Branch Infinity Scarf: I love scarves, so it’s hard to turn one down. I don’t have one in this vibrant blue, and I like the pattern. Not super in love, but I do like it. Lightweight material and a bit casual for my usual outfits.

Holden Striped Sheer Shortsleeve Blouse: I really like the cut of this blouse- a lot. I also really love the color scheme. Probably, most likely a definite keeper.

Corinna Striped Heathered Dolman Top: I’ve been into stripes lately and I really like how this top can be dressed up for a work day, but dressed down for a casual lunch. It’s also quite long which is awesome for me and the 3/4 sleeves make it great for any season.

JUNE STITCH FIX HAUL

It’s that time again- let’s do this!

PicMonkey Collage

Henessy Speckled Braid Trim Racerback Tank: I’ve already worn this top once to an outdoor barbeque and I absolutely love it! It tucks in nicely and I really like the racerback detail. Definitely keeping.

Colibri Abstract Print Sleeveless Blouse: This top isn’t something I would pick up on my own, but I definitely like the cut of the top. The pattern is a bit girly for me and because of my larger bust, one of the buttons is a bit strained from the pressure. But I do like the idea of tucking it into a pencil skirt for a nice summery outfit.

Jake Slim Boot Cut Jean: Jeans are tough for me to love. They usually aren’t long enough (with my 36+ inch inseam) and these unfortunately weren’t either. Plus I’m more a fan of skinny jeans, not boot cut. Not keeping these.

Daire Sleeveless Fit & Flare Dress: Cute dress and I love the lace detail. Not super fitted on the top, but the dress is a good length for me. Not sure if I’ll keep it or not.

Ginnie Colored Gem Statement Necklace: Usually not one for super colorful, statement necklaces but I like the gold detail. Perhaps it’s a bit pink-y for me.

What do you think? Help me decide!

THRIFT SHOP HAUL: SHADES OF BLACK

I might have gone a bit overboard this time- but I had a free afternoon and some spending money and I maybe, just MAYBE hit every thrift shop in town.

Maybe.

Weirdly enough though, everything I ended up purchasing were the same color: black. I don’t have a lot of black in my wardrobe- I was always more of a brown girl. But I’ve been inserting black into my everyday look and I love how it goes with everything.

Well let’s get on with it then. Here are the items I purchased this time around (please excuse my makeup-less face):

SUCCESS!

Question of the day: what’s your favorite thing to do on your day off?

APRIL STITCH FIX HAUL

STITCH FIX TIME! Seriously, my most favorite time of the month. And I absolutely love sharing it with you so let’s get started, shall we? First off, it arrived on my doorstep during a pretty torrential downpour and tornado warnings in the area- but I was determined to get that box off of my porch and into my cozy apartment to try things on. I then made a cup of hot cocoa, opened the box and here’s what I got this time around:

PicMonkey Collage

I said that my birthday was coming up, so I wanted a cute outfit for sure. Lots of patterns this time around! Honestly, not my favorite fix that I’ve gotten, but there were a few good things and pretty much everything fit.

Rune Porter Basic Legging: I don’t usually buy leggings- they are never long enough for me. These were more like capris, but they were super comfortable.

41Hawthorn Moni Horseshoe Print Stud Detail Top: Not really a horseshoe fan (seems a bit cowgirl-ish which isn’t really me), but I like the way it fits and the studded detail on it.

41Hawthorn Yola Abstract Print Faux Wrap Dress: Nice design on the dress, but even as a bustier gal it was a bit too big in the chest area.

Renee C Melody Longsleeve Cowl Neck Dress: I really like the color of this dress! But since it’s long sleeved, it’s not really a great pick for this weather. I paired it with a camel belt, which I think really added something to the outfit.

41Hawthorn Nanette Striped Lurex Detail Jacket: I asked for a blazer, and this is the only thing my designer could find that she felt would fit me. I honestly think it looks like something someone older would wear, but I gave it a go and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Here are some outfits I put together:

Question of the day- are horseshoe patterns on blouses too cowgirl-ish? What do you think I should keep?

PIN IT, WEAR IT | #1

Sometimes when I pin something on Pinterest, I desperately wish it would magically appear in my closet. And sometimes, seeing an outfit gives me inspiration to put together some clothes I already own in a way I never would have imagined. This week, I decided to dress up one of my dresses with a few simple accessories I already had lying around. Here’s the actual pin:

05dc750d2acc67abf553b92526d4249cWhen I saw this dress I immediately thought of a grey dress I had in my closet. I never thought to add a camel belt (I usually paired it with a black belt) and I already had a similar tote bag which I use every day for work. Throw in a cardigan (which I actually wore- not just for shoulder coverage) and my favorite sunglasses, and voilà! Here’s my version:

Grey Dress- Dressbarn: Thrifted

Cream Cardigan- Old Navy

Camel Belt- Target

Camel Tote Bag- Ebay
