Geometric shapes, gold tones and nothing too similiar: I think that’s what makes all the items in my bedroom go together. It wasn’t an easy journey- in fact it took me one year in my new apartment to get it right. Continue reading “Bedroom Inspiration: Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss””
Happy polka-dot day! Today I’m focusing on another polka-dotted top that’s great for summer! It’s also neutral, so it goes with everything. I also really like how it has an elastic band at the bottom of the top- I think it’s very flattering!
In this outfit, I paired it with dark purple shorts and a long, elephant necklace. Enjoy your weekend!
Shorts- American Eagle
Necklace- Forever 21

Okay, maybe the title of this post is a bit harsh, but you know what I mean don’t you? You go into Target with one item you need in mind, and you end up accidentally finding the clearance sections. Before you know it you have a cart full of stuff you weren’t planning to purchase. This exact scenario happened to me last night, and I’m going to tell you about it if you don’t mind.
I didn’t find any cardigans this time around since it’s becoming spring and all the colors that are “in” right now are pastels and highlighter colors. I must say, I’m not a fan. I didn’t even look at the clothes this time. I went straight for housewares first, and the things I found were 50% off and really great pieces for my apartment.
Gold Glass Jewelry tray: I’ve been looking for a piece like this for awhile to put on my makeup desk. It’s perfect to put my watch, rings, and any other odds and ends that I take off at the end of the day. I was worried it might be too light, but with the darker wood of my desk it pops really well.
Gold Glass Jewelry Box: I thought this jewelry box was a nice compliment to the jewelry tray I got- similar in color but different in pattern. Perfect place to hide away jewelry I don’t wear everyday to keep my desk from getting cluttered.
I then glanced at the jewelry before heading to the wallets/purses section. My wallet has been near-retired for the past month or so, and I’m super picky when it comes to wallets so I tend to check what stores have to offer every time I go. I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to keep the two wallets I purchased, but I loved that they were both 50% off and one is more dressy while the other is casual. Here they are!
Mossimo Bird Print Wallet: This would be my more everyday wallet and I liked the colors and print on this one. It’s a bit smaller than my current wallet, but I also think my wallet could use some downsizing. I’ll give it a test drive and see what I think this week. I’m also not sure about how it opens- I’m worried things will fall out if I don’t snap it shut. But I like that it’s cloth and the colors would match any bag or purse I put it in.
Merona Wallet with Removable Wrist Strap: This wallet is a bit more dressy, and I’ve been looking for something with a wrist strap option for going out. I’m not sure about the compartment for my phone, though. But I guess if I am out and about with just my wallet, it would be nice to have my phone and wallet all together. I love the gold detail on this wallet, and the border detail on the outside. Excited to try this one out!
All in all, a successful Target run, as usual.
Question of the day: What has been your best bargain at Target? Anything to brag about?
Have a wonderful day!
This next outfit inspired by Pinterest is one of my favorites. I’ve seen the black/camel color combination a lot lately and I decided to try it out for myself. Here’s what inspired my look this week:
I decided to go with a thicker belt (but I have a thinner camel belt as shown in my last Pin it, Wear it post) and I don’t own a camel-colored sweater cardigan. But I did find a yellow cardigan that was hidden in the back of my closet- I love putting forgotten clothes to new use! I really like this black dress- and it has POCKETS! Almost all dresses look short on me because of my mile-long legs, but I’ve learned to deal with it- when you got it, flaunt it!
Put it all together and what do you have? My version of this outfit!
Dress: TJ Maxx, Cardigan: Target, Belt: Maurices
Have a great day!
Sometimes when I pin something on Pinterest, I desperately wish it would magically appear in my closet. And sometimes, seeing an outfit gives me inspiration to put together some clothes I already own in a way I never would have imagined. This week, I decided to dress up one of my dresses with a few simple accessories I already had lying around. Here’s the actual pin:
When I saw this dress I immediately thought of a grey dress I had in my closet. I never thought to add a camel belt (I usually paired it with a black belt) and I already had a similar tote bag which I use every day for work. Throw in a cardigan (which I actually wore- not just for shoulder coverage) and my favorite sunglasses, and voilà! Here’s my version:
Grey Dress- Dressbarn: Thrifted
Cream Cardigan- Old Navy
Camel Belt- Target
Camel Tote Bag- Ebay
Does Pinterest inspire you and your closet?
I was out running errands today and happened to mosey into a dressing room at TJ Maxx (post about that accident later) with a full length mirror. I know my outfit today is nothing special, but it’s classic me on a day like today. Here’s my casual, out and about look for the day:
VERVE ami Navy Cardigan- TJ Maxx: One of the comfiest, softest cardigans in my closet. Drapes in the front and has a subtle change in fabric- from a ribbed texture to a regular knit.
Burnt Orange Scarf- I bought this at the Mall of America a few years ago, and I absolutely love it. A beautiful color that goes with pretty much everything in my wardrobe. I also bought a similar one in a mustard yellow that I’m sure I will include in a future OOTD.
Hi-Rise Skinny Jeans- American Eagle: Love love love these jeans! Great rise on me and I’m a big fan of AE Jeans because they come in extra long for my extra long legs, but they’re still form-fitting: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?productId=0432_8254
Women’s Mad Love Laksha Canvas Shoes- Target: Pretty much a knock-off of Toms, but super cheap and comfortable: http://www.target.com/p/women-s-mad-love-laksha-canvas/-/A-14363753#prodSlot=medium_1_23&term=women%27s%20canvas%20shoes
MOSSIMO Leather-Brown Purse- Goodwill: One of my favorite purses when I don’t have a whole bunch to carry around- just my wallet, sunglasses, etc. Was a great find and matches all of my outfits.
Hope you’re all having a wonderful day!
So you know when you go into Target and you accidentally walk by some clearance stuff…and the next thing you know your basket is full of things? Yeah, that’s why I try and limit my Target runs to once every few weeks. Here’s my latest haul:
I probably went a bit too far. But everything had a clearance sticker on it, which made me feel a little bit better about my purchases.
I’m a sucker for neutral eye shadows. I don’t wear dark makeup or anything super colorful- I like to stay as true to natural as possible. And apparently, from the picture, I struck gold on that front (and some gold tones as well).
…see what I did there. Man, I’m hilarious.
ANYWAY- I also have never found a blush or bronzer that I liked. We’ll see if my cheap buys are ones I’ll love to use. But in this weather (cold, snowy ick) I find that I’m already naturally blushed. I’m also one of the few redheads that can get a tan, but since it’s wintertime I lost my beautiful Florida tan I worked on this summer. Oh well, better luck next year.
I also am always on the hunt for great accessories for my hair. I have finally decided to start growing it out of the cute pixie I’ve had for almost 2 years now. I love it, but I forgot what it’s like to have long hair- and I’m pretty sure once I grow it out I’ll chop it off again. But hey, it’s an experience, right? Here’s the headband and the progress I’ve made so far on the growing out endeavor:
I also am super bad at washing my makeup off at night (I know, I know). Hopefully these “fun” cleansing wipes will make me remove it before going to bed. I’m pretty sure my skin is mad at me for this. Hopefully we can kiss and makeup.
…get it? Makeup?
Okay, I promise to stop now.
But I guess this blog post is just to show you the wonderful things about Target’s clearance section. But be warned- if you enter, you probably won’t leave empty handed.
Until next haul!
